FAQ

back

Q: Can I receive this work while I'm pregnant?

Yes. Generally, we do not do bodywork in the first trimester. This is to allow your body to settle into its job for the coming months and gives your body time to create a safe home for your baby. Into the second trimester body work is encouraged. The techniques I use are to create a more spacious body for your baby to grow and for you to be as comfortable as possible.

back

Q: Can I receive this work immediately postpartum?

If you have a vaginal birth you can receive body work immediately. If you have had a cesarean it is recommended to wait a minimum of 10-12 weeks to allow your body to have a good chance to heal.

back

Q: I receive this work while I’m on my bleed?

Yes, absolutely. It is beneficial for your body. As long as you are comfortable with it, so am I.

back

Q: I am not pregnant or postpartum, can I still receive this care?

This work is for all women of all ages, in all stages of their lives. Through this work we are bringing you into a connection with your body and educating it back into proper alignment. This is beneficial for our overall health, not just during pregnancy and postpartum. Each session is unique to every woman and what their body may need during that session.

back

Q: I have an IUD in place, am I able to receive this care?

Unfortunately, no. Through this work we are adjusting the tissues and layers of the body and through this process the IUD may move out of place and can cause damage to surrounding tissues and organs. By committing to this work, you are committing to allowing your uterus to function as it was innately designed to, which is free of hormonal contraception.

back

Q: Is this a massage?

No, hands on bodywork and massage are very different. While I work on you there needs to be a level of engagement and understanding of what I am doing. It is a co-creation and together we make lasting changes in your body.

back

Q: Will there be pain or discomfort during a session?

There should not be pain, but there most likely will be some discomfort while we work on your body. This is normal. Our bodies hold on to so much, physically and emotionally - so when we create an environment that feels safe for your body to unwind, there may be moments that do not feel good. We are creating space in your body by working with your fascia and helping your organs to shift into an optimal position. We are also working with scar tissue, adhesion, and inflammation that can feel like stickiness in your body. If at any point it is too much, we can shift gears and move on to something else. Above all, your body will always be the guide of your session.

back

Q: Is there any preparation I need to do for the sessions?

On the day of the session please come with clean skin, free of oils and moisturizer. We will be working with castor oil so if there is an allergy please let me know. I require my clients to come to their sessions sober in order to be fully aware and present in their body throughout the session. This includes refraining from the use of alcohol, vaping, tobacco use of any kind, psychedelics, and stimulants.

back

Q: What type of clothing should I wear?

During the session you will be covered with a sheet and blanket to stay warm. If you are comfortable you do not need to wear any clothing or may wear underwear and a bralette. Please do not wear a bra with underwire if planning to keep your bra on during the session.

back

Q: Do you take insurance?

No, I do not accept insurance.

back

Q: How many sessions are recommended?

Each body is unique and requires different care along the womb continuum from youth to end of life.
It is safe to say that 3-6 sessions would be beneficial. Each time we work together we are able to go a little deeper. Each time we work together, a new layer unfolds and we are able to access different parts of your body. How many sessions will depend on your health goals and desires. If you have a lot going on, it likely did not happen overnight. This work can initially show a lot of shifts and it is a devotional process of working with your body and tissue to unravel layers of stagnation and dis-ease.

back

Q: Do you work on teenage girls?

Yes, this work is really gentle but very beneficial for all girls/young women into elderhood. Sessions are typically shorter because they do not have the same levels of adhesion, scar tissue, etc. that adults do.
I require a parent to be present the full length of our first session. Follow up sessions are at the discretion of the parent/child whether they remain in attendance.

Womb continuum care

To care for the womb is to care for the whole person. My hands help your tissues to soften, organs to realign, and restore proper circulation and lymph flow to your abdomen and pelvis

It is an absolute gift to receive care from Annie. She creates an environment and experience where I feel safe, seen, heard, tended to, and held (physically, emotionally and energetically). She is such a kind and caring provider who has helped to bring healing and some ease back into my body postpartum.

Annie's energy is the perfect combination of warm, sacred, professional, and medicine woman that just puts you at ease right away. She held space for me in a beautiful, non-judgemental way as I shared my story and explained some of the symptoms my body had been showing me. I felt instantly comfortable in her presence and deeply held as she began work on my body. Immediately after the session, I felt a lightness and glow in my face that I hadn't felt in years. Days after the session, the feeling continued and I felt the softness in my fascia and abdomen retain. I can't recommend her enough for anyone seeking high-quality hands-on, hands-in women's bodywork. Her work is significantly more in depth than your average physical therapist.

My session with Annie was incredibly enlightening—not only did I find new levels of relaxation and ease in my body, but I also became aware of how easily we tend to overlook certain areas on our body that need just as much attention and care.
